Morocco is “the Land of the sunset” – Maghrib al-aqsa (the Far West). Spanning over 710,850 km2, it is the western part of North Africa. It overlooks the Atlantic Ocean at the west (2934 km of coastal lines), Gilbraltar straight the Mediterranean Sea up north (512 km of coastal lines), and is just 14 km away from Europe. It has land borders with Algeria (1350 km), Mauritania (650 km) and Spain (12 km) at Ceuta and Melilla.
Morocco is part of the Mediterranean world, the oceanic world and the Saharan world at the same time.
